Have you ever noticed how a current disappointment can bring up feelings from the past?
This week we’re looking at The Magician, the Five of Cups, and the Six of Cups.
There’s a strong connection here between past experiences and how we’re feeling in the present.
The Five of Cups shows disappointment or emotional weight—something that didn’t go the way you hoped.
The Six of Cups brings in the past—memories, patterns, or familiar emotional responses that can come forward.
So together, this can feel like a current situation is carrying more weight because it’s connected to something you’ve already experienced before.
This is something I’ve experienced myself. In one of my nursing roles, I had a situation with a co-worker that brought up some old challenges.
At first, the reaction felt very familiar. But once I became aware of what was underneath, I was able to stay more neutral and move through it much faster.
This is something I often see in readings—when past experiences come forward, they can influence how we’re seeing what’s happening now.
The two cups still standing in the Five of Cups remind you that not everything is lost—there are still options available.
And the Magician shows that you already have what you need to move through this, even if it asks you to be a little resourceful.
What might change if you recognized when a situation is bringing up the past—and chose to respond from where you are now?
